Jessica Campbell Becomes First Female NHL Assistant Coach

Jessica Campbell became the first female NHL assistant coach to be hired by the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday. She said that while it is an honor to be the first, she is more focused on the impact and contribution of her work.

Campbell joined the Kraken two years ago as an assistant coach for their AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, becoming the first female coach in the AHL. He was named the Seattle Kraken Womens hockey Jerseys coach, replacing Dave Hakstol, after Dan Bylsma led the Firebirds to two AHL championship series.

Bylsma was impressed with Campbell’s work ethic and ability to develop young players, specifically citing the progress of players such as Ty Cartier, Shane Wright and Riker Evans. Campbell will be responsible for working with the forwards and helping newly hired veteran assistant coach Bob Woods with the power play.

Seattle general manager Ron Francis first noticed Campbell when she was an assistant coach for the Germany Mens NHL Jerseys men’s national team. He praised her work in the Coachella Valley, calling her deep understanding of the game and developed skills impressive.

Campbell played four seasons of NCAA hockey at Cornell University and played professional hockey in Canada and Sweden Cheap Hockey Jerseys before becoming a skating and skills coach, building a client base that includes several NHL players. “If you believe anything is possible, I believe I can do it,” she said. “I’m glad to be able to play this role and set an example for the younger generation.”
